Ank Jyotish · enterprise
Chaldean values, the compound number beneath the root, your sector, and your own birth numbers — checked together. Where the name falls short you get the smallest spelling change that fixes it.
Enter the trading name as customers will say it — not the private limited suffix.
A root number is not good or bad in the abstract — it is suited or unsuited to what you are selling. The graha behind it is what decides.
Sun · Surya
Excellent for a founder-led or eponymous brand — reads as authority and first-mover.
Moon · Chandra
Gentle for a customer-facing brand; underpowered for aggressive growth. Strong for a partnership of two.
Jupiter · Guru
Very strong for education, advisory, publishing, finance — anything selling expertise.
Rahu · Rahu
Risky as a brand root — reads unstable to customers. Workable for deep-tech and research ventures where the audience expects the unorthodox.
Mercury · Budha
The strongest all-round business root — reads as commerce, movement and modernity. Especially good for retail, media and tech.
Venus · Shukra
Excellent for consumer brands, hospitality, beauty, design — anything bought for how it feels.
Ketu · Ketu
Weak as a commercial root — reads as inward and remote. Acceptable for research institutes, spiritual and wellness practices.
Saturn · Shani
Powerful but demanding — right for infrastructure, real estate and finance with a long horizon. Wrong for a business that must break even quickly.
Mars · Mangal
Strong and assertive — well suited to construction, sport, defence, property and any brand that should read as fearless.
The sequence that works is: shortlist names you actually like and can defend commercially, check availability and trademark, then use the number to break the tie. Running it the other way round — generating a name from a target number and hoping to like it — produces the kind of brand that has to be explained.
If a business is already trading under a name, changing it costs you every bit of recognition you have built. Unless the numbers are badly at odds and the business is genuinely young, the honest advice is usually to keep the name.
What this page will not do
It will not promise revenue, predict failure, or tell you a competitor's name is cursed. Numerology describes tendency. Your unit economics describe your business.
In Indian practice the strong commercial roots are 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9 — Surya for authority and a founder-led brand, Guru for anything selling expertise, Budha for trade and communication, Shukra for anything bought because of how it feels, and Mangal for construction, sport and property. 8 is powerful but slow: Shani rewards a long horizon and punishes a business that needs to break even this year. 2, 4 and 7 are cautioned for commerce because they are inward, unstable or ascetic by nature — which does not make them unusable, only mismatched to most selling.
Chaldean maps letters by sound rather than alphabetical position, which is why it handles Indian brand names better, and it is the system Indian numerologists and Cheiro both use. It assigns no letter the value 9 — 9 is held sacred — although a name that totals 9 keeps it. Using Pythagorean here would give you a number no Indian numerologist would recognise as your name's number.
The compound is the raw total before it is reduced — a name totalling 23 has root 5 and compound 23. Cheiro read the single digit as what the public sees and the compound as the current running underneath it. Two names can both reduce to 8 while one sits on 26 (ruin through bad partnership) and the other on 44 or 17. For a trading name the compound is often the more useful of the two, which is why this calculator reports both.
Traditionally, yes — a name that is strong in isolation but at odds with the owner's Mulank and Bhagyank is held to under-deliver, and this is the single most common correction a numerologist makes. Enter your date of birth and the calculator will check the name against your own numbers as well as against the sector.
Only minimal edits are offered — a doubled letter, or a soft vowel inserted or appended, the way Rajiv becomes Rajeev. Each suggestion has to land on a root that is favourable for your sector and for your own numbers, avoid a compound Cheiro marked as testing, and avoid the four karmic debt totals (13, 14, 16, 19). Suggestions that fail any of those tests are not shown.
Less than availability, less than trademark clearance, and less than whether a customer can spell it after hearing it once. A favourable number is a tailwind. Treat a numerologist who tells you a name change will fix a struggling business as someone selling certainty the tradition does not offer.
